Spring Clean Up: (5/2/2013)
Please note that the City does not offer curbside collection of yard waste in the spring. If you have grass clippings, leaves, garden waste or similar materials, please bring them to Riverside Recycling. If you have bulky items you wish to dispose of, you may bring them to Riverside Recycling as well.

Bulky Item Collection
The City of Portland's solid waste program provides residents with convenient and environmentally friendly ways to recycle or dispose of unwanted items. A staff of 19 employees provides a variety of services including:
- Weekly curbside collection of trash and recyclables
- Emptying litter receptacles located in public spaces
- Servicing and maintaining the "silver bullet" drop off recycling center
- Providing contract hauling services for Ecomaine
- Providing waste and recycling collection services for public schools and City buildings
- Monitoring and ensuring safe and compliant operations at Riverside Recycling
- Providing 9 household hazardous waste collection events
- Providing bulky waste collection services through the E-card program and the Bulky Sticker
program
